Cinematic sound logo blending unity and hope for NATO's Summit

Challenge
For NATO, the design team Clarify faced the task of creating a logo animation that would resonate with a global audience while showcasing the Netherlands’ leadership role within the NATO summit. The challenge was to develop an audiovisual identity that conveyed NATO’s core values—unity, strength, and protection—while also appealing to a diverse audience. The goal was to avoid an overly aggressive or militaristic tone, instead finding a balance that was strong yet inviting, elegant yet determined. The sound needed to be cinematic and modern, without veering into overly "soft" or playful territory. The audio had to align with the visual concept, which depicted a journey from darkness to light, with subtle nods to the wind, windmills, and the symbolic "light points" representing NATO members.
Output
The final sound logo begins in subdued, low frequencies, mirroring the darkness in the animation. As the light points representing NATO members appear, subtle wind and atmospheric textures evoke the Dutch windmill, enhancing the sense of movement and unity. The bassline is steady and powerful, symbolizing ongoing work, with light percussion and occasional instrument stabs punctuating key moments. To resonate with the 25-35 aimed demographic while maintaining seriousness, we blended modern electronic textures, creating an edge without overwhelming the visuals. At the climax, the sound transitions to a hopeful, expansive tone, symbolizing unity and peace, ending with a soft, gliding note to convey resolution. This audio identity complements the Wings of Unity visual concept, balancing urgency with hope and cooperation, fitting the tone of NATO's upcoming summit and the Netherlands’ role in it.
