We at THNDR were thrilled when Good Form, the Toronto-based creative studio, approached us to compose music for their showreel. Working closely with Good Form, we immersed ourselves in their vision, taking inspiration from their thoughtful design, meaningful motion, and purposeful storytelling. Their work is diverse, and combining it all resulted in a playful, eclectic mix that we had to complement with sound design.

Working closely with Good Form, we immersed ourselves in their vision, taking inspiration from their thoughtful design and their approach to motion and storytelling. To incorporate their playfulness, we mostly used physical instruments. Analog synthesizers made it possible to shape the beat and sound with our hands. The overall soundtrack to their showreel consists of two parts, crossing over with the help of a powerful 1 second intermission. The first part is a bit more dreamy and open, matching the overall bigger movements in the visuals. The second section moves at a faster pace, and the variety of animations grows. The sound design was made to match all their visual details, making the animations come to life even more. The result is a soundtrack that complements their showreel, enhancing the visual experience and while also creating a cohesive, engaging whole.
